\n<\/span><\/strong><\/a>We’re fully aware that our oceans are in a bad way, but recent studies suggest the problem is infinitely worse than previously thought. A group of scientists report<\/a> that\u00a0ocean life is “at high risk of entering a phase of extinction of marine species unprecedented in human history”, due to over-fishing, pollution, and climate change.<\/p>\n
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/a>G20 agricultural ministers met this week<\/a> to try and curb rising food prices and stabilise a volatile market. Ministers called for an increase in productivity, but also for greater transparency in commodity markets. It’s boring stuff, but I guess it’s relevant. Certainly important. I couldn’t believe how much some things cost last time I went to the shops.<\/p>\n
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/a>As headlines go it’s not exactly an earth-stopper, but recent hormone studies suggest<\/a> that two fifths of people over-eat when under pressure. The hypothesis is that it’s the pressures of modern life that are driving the obesity epidemic. I must confess that writing these weekly news round-ups is so trying that I have to eat a Snickers duo whenever I do one.<\/p>\n
