I have used the top bar on three occasions over the last ten days, and have been disappointed on the last two. The staff require training or retraining preferable not on the job. The service ranges from excellent to poor. The quality of food is good but varies in size and produce depending on what the kitchen decide to send out. The cost or drinks with the exception of the wine change depending who serves you. Why do I go back? because in Folkestone this is the only modern, attractive bar and restaurant. 5/10
Oh that’s not good at all is it? These things need addressing; I’d speak to manager next time. J
I visited Rock Salt yesterday with my family of six and two children, we loved the restaurant and bar, but the whole experience was ruined by the service, which was none existent, we waited for ever for our food and when it eventually turned up it was not what we ordered, we were all served at different times and we received no apology.the table was not cleaned up after our courses, and we were left to chat over dirty plates. I did after being presented with the bill (the quickest thing to be served) ask for someone to come and speak with me before paying, in the end I got up and went over to the till to pay, pointing out that I would not be paying for service. This was met with a stony expression, even though I had said that I would come back in the week to give them another try. I asked what I could expect to eat during the week to be told that I could look on line! I understand that a local business man has funded this lovely eating house, and having worked in the area for 15 years am very surprised that he has not had some indication of how things are going with this venture. What could be the start of Folkestones revival is sadly, being wasted, so Rock Salt get your act together before you get a professional food critic visiting your establishment, I wont score you, as unlike Greg I do have better options closer to home
