UK fish stocks in dramatic decline
A recent study suggests that the drop in fish stocks in British waters is more severe than first thought. Fishermen today are landing around 4 times less stock than their Victorian counterparts. A reform in common fisheries policy has been called for to allow for some level of recovery. Can’t believe I got through that without cracking an inappropriate fish pun. Time and a plaice for that.

Supermarkets have too much power says the Green Party
Major supermarkets, and in particular Tesco, have come under fire from political parties, reports the Grocer. The argument goes that the giants have so much money that they can afford to buy up any site they choose, appealing and re-appealing for planning permission until councils give in. This has a devastating affect on local businesses and the rest we know. Where do you shop?

World Cup drink deals scrutinized

Supermarkets had their wrists slapped further this week for offering cynical and downright irresponsible ‘kamikaze’ drink deals. The Daily Mail, unsurprisingly, joined in the condemnation of such deals, which many fear will fuel this binge-drinking culture of ours. What do you think? Is this irresponsible grog-peddling or simply a sensible response to demand?
